PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma
PRP is a recent technology that uses ingredients from your own blood to regenerate your skin and to rejuvenate collagen, resulting in vibrant, fresh younger looking skin.
Also known as “The Vampire Facial” is basically tissue regeneration with your own blood cells. Aging and UV damage causes the skin’s texture and appearance to deteriorate gradually over time. This is characterised by sagging and thinning of the skin, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. The delicate skin around the eyes, neck and back of hands is particularly prone to this process. PRP helps rejuvenate the skin where other treatments fail or deliver suboptimal results.
The enriched plasma that is injected into your treatment area contains your own growth factors which maintain and stimulate production of new collagen. It is the improved and new collagen beneath your skin that provides the plump, younger appearance in your treated area.
As we age our collagen cells also age. Collagen can be thought of as a collection of coils that maintain bounce and elasticity in your skin. As collagen ages these coils unwind and no longer spring back as well as they used to, leading to the signs of aging you are familiar with.
As PRP maintains and stimulates new collagen development the process is literally restoring the bounce to your skin and in turn creating the appearance of younger youthful skin.
This treatment is performed by our registered Nurse Louise Bellamy-Leiper.
